Holiday Festival @ Independence Public Library

A jolly filled evening begins with live entertainment from the Indy Ensemble and Lighting Ceremony on the 1st floor. The family-friendly night continues with music from IHS Strings, photos with Santa & Mrs. Claus, refreshments, and cookies.  Spend your holiday bucks at our Holiday Store to purchase gifts for your family and friends. Afterwards stop at our Gift Wrapping Station, and enjoy festive games, activities, and crafts.

Do you  knit or crochet or do other handwork? It’s lots more fun when you’re doing it with friends. Learn a new stitch, watch a video or get help with a problem or just visit a while. We make purple hats for babies as part of the Purple Hats for Babies/Shaken Baby Syndrome program. We’ve also make red hats for babies as part of the Little Hats Big Hearts program. Bring a friend to Sheep on a Stick. Cookies welcome!

Come join the Friends of the Library for a holiday Sing-A-Long around the tree and grand piano.  There will be cider and Hot Chocolate.  Don’t worry if you can’t remember the words, they will be provided on the big screen.

Library items may be delivered to patrons who reside in nursing homes or assisted living facilities, or  to those who are confined to their  homes because of a medical condition that prevents them from coming to the library.

Librarians can enroll patrons for Talking Books and Audio-Readers for the visually impaired. Forms may be picked up at the library.

Each month there will be coffee, doughnuts, and healthy snacks, free blood sugar and blood pressure checks, book discussion, lunch and a movie, special speakers, a discount in the bookstore, and a chance to gather and chat with friends. Stop by every month on the 3rd Thursday of the month, all day.

Grant Writers of Montgomery County is an organization for grant writers, both new and experienced, collaborating with each other and learning more about grant resources and writing. The group meets every 3rd Friday at 11 am either at Coffeyville Public Library meeting room or the Independence Public Library 2nd floor meeting room as follows:

Pizza Hut Fundraiser @ Pizza Hut

Support the Independence Public Library at Pizza Hut on anytime from 10:00 AM – 10:30 PM.  Using our Pizza Hut flyer, accessible for pick up at the library or print it from our Facebook page (@iplks), 20% of your purchase will go towards raising funds for literacy at the library. This fundraiser is every 1st Tuesday of the month and you must have the new flyer at time of purchase.
