OUR MISSION

The mission of the Independence Public Library is providing equal access to a center of learning and literacy that reaches out to enrich the lives of our diverse community.
The Independence Public Library welcomes and celebrates everyone. As an innovator, we inspire curiosity and empower people to discover a world of ideas which enrich our community.

WE NEED YOU

Your commitment of a gift to the Independence Public Library or Friends of the Independence Public Library (501(c)3) is the strongest statement of support that you can make for the Library.
As one of the cornerstones and key indicators of a democratic society, the Library benefits community members with the information they need to live informed lives; free to read, listen, and view, and become engaged citizens. With circulation rates increasing among patrons and library classes and event attendance growing, the need for a strong library has never been greater. With cuts to state and federal funding, community financial support is of critical importance to the longevity and quality
of the library.

WHY?

Now, more than ever, the Independence Public Library needs the support of individuals, companies, and philanthropic foundations to ensure that this historic and dynamic institution can continue its long and proud service into the future. The reduced basic funding provided by local government is not sufficient.
Your tax-deductible gift will provide a continuing source of income and ensure that the community will always have the resources of the Library available.

CREATE A LEGACY: WAYS TO GIVE

You can create a legacy to ensure the Library will be enjoyed by generations to come. Your gift to the Independence Public Library or the Friends of the Independence Public Library (501(c)3) both tax-deductible entities, will help provide for the long-term financial strength and security of one of the area’s premier cultural and educational institutions

WILL OR ESTATE GIFTS

Planned giving is a way for you to contribute money to the Library while simultaneously realizing your estate and financial planning goals. Estate planning instruments include wills, trusts, gift annuities, IRAs, real estate and insurance plans that transfer assets at the end of the donor’s life. Unless otherwise designated, planned gifts are utilized by the Library to procure technology, provide services, and capital improvements otherwise unattainable due to current budget constraints.

CORPORATE GIVING

Philanthropic support of the Independence Public Library demonstrates your company’s commitment to one of our comunity’s most precious resources and leaves a lasting impression on your employees. If you create a Matching Gift program, you allow your employees an opportunity to participate as well.

ONE-TIME OR SUSTAINING GIFTS

Your gift of cash or your pledge of a gift is always welcome. Ongoing monthly, quarterly or annual gifts allow you to spread your contributions out over time.

HONORARY OR MEMORIAL GIFTS

A gift to the Library or the Friends of the Library is a meaningful way to convey sympathy to the bereaved, memorialize a loved one, commemorate a special occasion or honor someone who cares about learning and the power of words. Pay tribute to a friend or family member, and we will send a card to a designated individual notifying them of
your gift.
