The Independence Public Library offers a wide range of literary events and discussion groups. Here you will find our three most popular discussion groups. Lit Lounge is a monthly book discussion group that discusses a different book each month. Little Green Men is our monthly science fiction group. This group meets to discuss all things science fiction, from short stories to novels, and movies. There is something to nerd out to at each meeting! Drabble Rousers is our biweekly short story discussion group! This group meets every other week to discuss a different work of short fiction from mystery to romance and everything in between, this group will delight and spark your interest. The library is constantly seeking out new and exciting new discussion groups. If you would like to start a literary discussion group check out our D.I.Y. Drabble Rousers is a short story discussion group of the Independence Public Library. A “drabble” is a story of approximately one hundred words. We don’t limit ourselves to works that short but we couldn’t resist the name. Copies of the story are available in advance at the library and online at our Facebook group page https://www.facebook.com/groups/512613812739784. We meet every other Monday night at 6 pm. Discussions are friendly and engaging. Attendees may contribute or just listen in at their pleasure.
